Why This Day Is Special: 

This global day promotes safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people. It aims to create a better and more secure digital environment for everyone. Safer Internet Day encourages individuals, schools, and organizations to reflect on their online behavior and promote positive internet experiences. It addresses issues like cyberbullying, online privacy, and misinformation.

History Behind the Day:

 Safer Internet Day began in 2004 as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project and is now celebrated in over 180 countries worldwide. It is coordinated by the Insafe/INHOPE network in Europe. Each year, a new theme is chosen to focus on current online issues. The day has evolved to cover emerging online trends and challenges.
